My Europe - UK
My Europe / Mein Europa
My Europe' is an interactive digital series of events that invites its guests to discover Europe.
How does it work? It's simple: We talk to young people from various countries about Europe and their personal topics of interest. The topics are as diverse as the speakers and can range from current political and social developments through culture and science to one's own commitment to greater tolerance or solidarity. In addition to the given topic, all participants can also vote live on other topics and ask questions on the evening itself.
On 26 January Madeleina Key will take you on a trip to United Kingdom
Madeleina Kay is a 27 years aged British artist, writer, musician and political activist. Awarded ‘Young European of the Year 2018’, she is known as #EUsupergirl for her creative campaigning for Europe. She was awarded the UK Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2020 for her project ‘The Future is Europe‘.
As a topic close to her heart, she presents the importance of creativity in campaigning forsocial justice causes and for democratic self-empowerment of the individual. She will discuss her previous activism against Brexit and topics in line with her current work for the Media Diversity Institute and Axis (an arts charity):
- The influence of the media in the outcome of the UK's vote to leave the EU.
- The demonisation of migrants and representation of minorities in the public and media.
- Ways to combat hate speech, fake news and conspiracy theories online.
The event in English will be moderated by Eva Onkels.
